Students will be provided with supplies for this elective.

Students will explore how digital designs can become physical objects through 3D modeling and digital fabrication. Through hands-on projects, they’ll discover how artists and designers move between virtual models, material experiments, and constructed forms.

Through guided exercises, students will learn to develop three-dimensional designs while considering shape, scale, structure, and function. They’ll explore how material choices and fabrication processes influence a design, learning to prepare their ideas for production.

Students will develop prototypes, evaluate their results, and refine their designs through testing and feedback. Along the way, they’ll strengthen their spatial thinking and creative problem-solving skills while discovering connections between digital tools and hands-on making.

What Students Will Create

Students will develop original 3D models and fabricated prototypes, supported by sketches and design studies. Their work will demonstrate their growing ability to move from an initial concept to a physical form and document that process for their portfolio.

What Registration Will Include

This registration will cover one afternoon elective only. A morning intensive, a second afternoon elective, and housing will require separate registration.
