Students will be provided with supplies for this elective.

Students will explore how user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design shape the ways people interact with websites, apps, and other digital tools. Through hands-on projects, they’ll discover how thoughtful design can help people find information, navigate choices, and complete tasks.

Through guided exercises, students will consider users’ needs, map out interactions, and develop wireframes that establish the structure of a digital experience. They’ll explore how typography, color, layout, and visual hierarchy work together to create interfaces that are clear, consistent, and accessible.

Students will turn their ideas into interactive prototypes, testing their designs and refining them through feedback. Along the way, they’ll develop creative problem-solving skills and learn to explain how their design choices support the people who will use their work.

What Students Will Create

Students will develop an interactive prototype for a website or app concept, supported by user research, sketches, and wireframes. Their project will demonstrate their growing ability to connect users’ needs with purposeful interface design and will provide a foundation for a portfolio piece.

What Registration Will Include

This registration will cover one afternoon elective only. A morning intensive, a second afternoon elective, and housing will require separate registration.

Students will be able to take this elective on its own or combine it with other Summer@Cornish courses. No morning intensive will be required.

How Students Will Build Their Schedules
