Film Intensive + Portfolio Development
About the Course
Students will be given supplies and equipment for this intensive.
From ideation to live action video, teens will deepen their understanding of film development. The class will teach the full range of cinema’s visual language, from composition to shots, and from the logic of visual narrative to working with actors, recording sound, and making a final edit. Youth will learn core skills for any film student including the building blocks of a powerful scene and discovering effective elements in a single film image. Through ideation to the phases of production, teens will have completed a group film at the end of the four-week intensive.
While this intensive may be taken independently, it is the program designed to work in conjunction with the Summer@Cornish electives in the afternoon. This class introduces students to writing stories for the screen and gives them opportunities to write their own. Stage & Screen Combat
Both an acting and a physical technique course, this class explores character movement in the context of a specific physical form: stage combat (armed and unarmed), including rapier, dagger, and broadsword. Performers develop greater specificity of movement, clarity of physical choices, and balance of one’s own energy with that of a partner.
