Film Intensive + Portfolio Development
About the Course
Students will be given supplies and equipment for this intensive.
From ideation to live-action video, students will deepen their understanding of the complete filmmaking process. This intensive introduces the full range of cinema’s visual language, from composition and shot design to visual narrative, directing actors, recording sound, and editing a final cut.
Students will learn the essential building blocks of filmmaking, including how to craft a powerful scene, create visual rhythm, and communicate meaning through a single image. Through guided instruction and hands-on collaboration, students will move through each stage of production, developing both creative and technical skills along the way.
By the end of the four-week intensive, participants will have completed a short group film, gaining practical experience in storytelling, teamwork, and the art of cinematic expression.
This intensive can be taken on its own, but it’s designed as the core morning intensive program that pairs perfectly with Summer@Cornish afternoon electives.
We encourage students to add two electives — either to deepen their focus in a specific discipline or explore new creative interests across fields.
