About the Course
Students will be provided the supplies for this elective.
Costume Design introduces students to the creative role of a costume designer as part of a collaborative production team. Students will explore hands-on design methods, including developing visual concepts, experimenting with form and silhouette, and creating model pieces to bring ideas to life. Through guided research in style, character, and historical influence, students will learn how fabric, texture, and structure inform design. This elective is ideal for students interested in fashion and performance design who want to learn how costumes are imagined, developed, and built for the stage.
While this elective can be taken on its own, is is designed to pair perfectly with the core Summer@Cornish morning Art & Design Intensive program.
We encourage students to enroll the morning intensive to build a strong foundation, then expand their skills and interests through these afternoon electives.
