About the Course
In this all-levels, hands-on intensive, students will develop essential skills for powerful and versatile storytelling through words and images. They will explore how writing, drawing, and visual language work together to communicate ideas, build worlds, and connect with audiences. Through a series of guided exercises and projects, students will strengthen their ability to craft compelling narratives, design expressive characters, and bring their stories to life through inking and sequential art.
By the end of the session, students will have created several short comics and collected them into a final mini-comic to share and take home or use in their portfolio. The class emphasizes both individual voice and collaboration, encouraging students to experiment, problem-solve, and support one another as artists.
While this elective can be taken on its own, is is designed to pair perfectly with the core Summer@Cornish morning Art & Design Intensive program.
We encourage students to enroll the morning intensive to build a strong foundation, then expand their skills and interests through these afternoon electives.
