Music Intensive + Audition Prep & Performance
About the Course
Students will be provided with any supplies needed. Students will be required to bring their own instruments. Drum kits, piano's, and amps are provided.
Modeled after Cornish’s core undergraduate music curriculum, this course will explore foundational theoretical principles in music theory through analysis, composition, improvisation, performance, and listening. This foundational class is an introduction to basic music theory and ear training including notation for pitch and rhythm; intervals; diatonic (major and minor) scales; chromatic scale; diatonic modes; key signatures; transposition; and concepts in rhythm, meter, and durational notation.
While this intensive may be taken independently, it is the foundational program that is designed to work in conjunction with the Summer@Cornish electives in the afternoon. Please select two afternoon electives to go along with this intensive. Please see those descriptions here or email plus@cornish.edu if you have any questions.
