SHAPING MEANING THROUGH IMAGERY
This introductory module examines the role of images in communication, emphasizing how to convey meaning. Students will engage in hands-on and digital exercises, focusing on scale, resolution, color profiles, and image quality. The course highlights single-image projects, encouraging critical thinking about perception and interpretation. Core themes include the influence of design on our environment and how meaning is shaped by conventions and context. Students will learn to create, manipulate, and alter meaning through imagery.

+ Intro to Illustrator and Photoshop.

O U T C O M E S
+ Become familiarized with elements and principles of composition.
+ Understand and apply different criteria for classifying images according to levels of complexity and expression/representation.
+ Make use of sketching and iterative practices.
+ Identify and select appropriate software and technical specifications for distinct production tasks.
+ Create original assets of visual communication with analog and digital industry-standard tools.
MODULE COMPLETION
This module can be taken independently for focused learning on image-making and visual communication. However, it is designed as part of the Graphic Design Certificate Program, providing a comprehensive foundation in design principles.
