Musical & Theater Intensive + Audition Prep & Performance
About the Course
This four-week intensive is designed for student performers eager to deepen their training in acting, musical theater, and live performance. Modeled after Cornish College of the Arts’ BFA approach, the program blends rigorous acting and movement study with practical audition preparation to help students grow as both artists and performers.
Throughout the program, students explore character development through sensory awareness, imagination, physical expression, and ensemble collaboration. Daily studio work focuses on connecting voice, body, and emotion to create authentic performances across both spoken and musical scenes.
Fridays are devoted to audition preparation and performance coaching, where students:
- Receive individualized feedback on monologues and musical selections
- Learn audition techniques, professional etiquette, and confidence-building strategies
- Participate in mock auditions and panel critiques
- Develop materials for college or conservatory applications, including song and monologue selections and personal statements
The program culminates in a performance on a Cornish stage, where students share selected scenes and musical performances with family and guests.
This intensive is ideal for students interested in pursuing musical theater or acting at the college level, offering both foundational training and a practical understanding of what it takes to audition and perform at a professional standard.
This intensive can be taken on its own, but it’s designed as the core morning intensive program that pairs perfectly with Summer@Cornish afternoon electives.
We encourage students to add two electives — either to deepen their focus in a specific discipline or explore new creative interests across fields.
