Dance Intensive + Audition Prep & Performance
About the Course
Students should have at least 3-6 years of technical dance training; including contemporary, ballet, street forms and/or social dance forms.
Dance education at Cornish has been the root of the college since its inception. Designed by current Cornish College Dance Faculty Alia Swersky, the summer dance program is a reflection of the college’s commitment to rigorous and cutting edge dance practices. Over the course of 4-weeks, students will have a chance to explore a range of dance techniques and creative process practices. This morning pre-college intensive offers physical training, conditioning, and experimental explorations in composition, choreography, and improvisation. This program is intended to offer students foundational training and skills that will foster their development as professional dancers.
Fridays are dedicated to audition preparation for college programs. On the fourth Friday, parents and guests will be invited to an informal performance.
Students are encouraged to select up to 2 afternoon electives in any discipline. These electives are open to all students and do not require placement.
Students should have at least 3-6 years of technical dance training; including contemporary, ballet, street forms and/or social dance forms.
While this intensive may be taken independently, it is an elective that is designed to work in conjunction with our Dance Intensive 4-week program. Please see that description here or email plus@cornish.edu if you have any questions.
