AI for Equity

The Seattle University AI for Equity program introduces students to the powerful and complex relationship between artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the criminal justice system. Through hands-on learning and real-world examples, students explore how modern technologies are being used in criminal justice today, while critically examining issues of bias, equity, and ethics.

Participants build a foundational understanding of AI and machine learning, evaluate common techniques applied to real datasets, and assess both the technical and social justice implications of these tools. The program challenges students to design AI-driven solutions to traditional social problems, balancing innovation with responsibility. Learning is enriched by guest speakers from the Seattle area who bring local, professional perspectives on technology, ethics, and justice.

Urban Sustainability

The Urban Sustainability program gives students a hands-on introduction to careers in environmental science, sustainability, and environmental justice. Through immersive, project-based learning led by Seattle University faculty, students explore urban ecosystems, human impacts on the environment, and practical strategies for building more sustainable cities.

Grounded in principles of equity and inclusion, the program examines environmental justice and the systemic factors that create unequal environmental burdens. Students gain real-world experience through field and lab projects while building foundational skills in sustainability, environmental analysis, and urban systems.

Albers Summer Business Institute

The Albers Pre-College Summer Business Institute (SBI) at Seattle University offers motivated high school students a unique opportunity to explore the world of business through a college-level experience. Designed for students interested in business, teamwork, and campus life, SBI immerses participants in credit-bearing coursework while they live and learn on a university campus.

Through hands-on projects and experiential learning, students explore a range of business disciplines and gain insight into how business concepts are applied in real-world settings. Participants build collaboration, leadership, and critical-thinking skills while engaging with faculty, peers, and the dynamic academic environment of Seattle University. While open to all rising 9th–12th graders, the program strongly encourages students from historically marginalized identities to apply, supporting access and equity in business education.
